With the expansion of the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) from 29th August 2023, the Mayor of London has announced a new vehicle scrappage scheme. Under the new initiative, all people living in London with non-compliant vehicles will now be eligible to receive £2,000 from Transport for London (TFL) as an incentive to use more eco-friendly options.

What will Volkswagen UK offer?

We’ll ‘top up’ TFL’s scrappage scheme – so eligible customers who can provide evidence of being a London resident, and have an approved application plus a CoD, save up to an additional £4,500 (including VAT) on selected vehicles. The campaign will run from Tuesday 5 September until Sunday 31 December 2023, with registration and handover required by 31 December 2023.

The ULEZ applies to cars that don’t meet Euro 4 (petrol cars) or Euro 6 (diesel cars) emissions standards. Generally, that covers diesel cars built before 2015 and petrol cars built before 2005.

Anyone living in the 32 London boroughs or the City of London with an eligible vehicle can apply to scrap a car. Once a customer’s vehicle is scrapped at an authorised treatment facility (ATF), they will be issued with a certificate of destruction (CoD).

ULEZ Scrappage Support

• Additional scrappage support is available on eligible units handed over and registered between Tuesday 5th September 2023 and Sunday 31st December 2023 (inclusive).
• Support levels are referenced in the bulletin and amounts shown are inclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated
• The scrappage support is in lieu of current tactical offers (i.e. these cars do not qualify for deposit contribution or APR subsidies).
• Scrappage support will not be paid on vehicles that are sold using a Connect Online campaign.
• Scrappage support can be combined with live sales activation codes (SAC) at time of order (unless otherwise stated for those campaigns)
• These units will not count towards your quarterly CiL allowance.
• Scrappage support will only be paid if an enquiry is submitted in Vision on or before Friday 5th January 2024 detailing all eligible cars registered and handed over by Sunday 31st December 2023.
• The enquiry must clearly identify the VIN(s) or order number(s) the support is being request for. It must also confirm that the retailer has evidence on file of the customer’s eligibility for this offer – this includes customer address, approved TFL scrappage scheme application & Certificate of Destruction (CoD) of an eligible vehicle.
• Random audits will take place at the end of the campaign and where the above evidence cannot be provided, support will be reclaimed.
• If for any reason the email isn’t submitted correctly by the deadline the support will not be paid and no appeals will be considered.
• Only sales channel type 00/10 is applicable for this offer.
• Bonuses are guaranteed at point of order, as outlined in the tactical campaign. Scrappage support will be paid following handover and registration at point of reconciliation of the campaign.
